*************

The Term 4 theme for Grade 1 students is all about sea transport... and last Wednesday, I joined Zharif and all the Grade 1 students with other Mums who volunteered for the field trip to Saigon River to view all kind of sea transport and the activities that take part along the river.

The Saigon River is a river located in southern Vietnam that rises near Phum Daung in southeastern Cambodia, and flows south and south-southeast for about 140 miles (225 km) to the Mekong Delta.

The Saigon River is joined 18 miles (29 km) northeast of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly named Saigon) by the Dong Nai River, and just above Ho Chi Minh City it is joined by the Ben Cat River. Saigon River is important to Ho Chi Minh City as it is the main water supply as well as the host of Saigon Port, which a total cargo volume load/outloaded of more than 35 million metric tons in 2006.

zino: kami naik bot/feri tourist je. kalau dapat naik catamaran "asean lady" tu, tak terkata lah gumbira nya saya.. nengok je la dari jauh.. mat saleh punya tu, tumpang labuh je katanya..

mamasarah: grumbling tak henti2 zharif tu nanti. "why my fren's mum can go & u can't..bla bla bla.." (happened once sbb saya ada appointment kat clinic). tapi memang saya tunggu2 class trip ni.. enjoy!! saigon ni besar, will story2 abt the city/people nanti..

faiza: memang seronok, org tua yg excited.

luj: sekarang ok sikit bandar ni. dulu2 tu mundur lagi. best naik bot sbb dapat view cruise ship dari dekat..

kak elle: enjoy kak elle!! nanti datang mulan bawak naik bot. memang kami pakat mak2 utk pi trip ni. cikgu lagi suka sbb depa tak kena jaga sangat budak2 ni.. ha ha.

penat jgk sbb kena tolong kira bot pulak utk kids ni. bukan fun trip, ada kerja jgk atas bot tu..

misha: everyday pun ada session utk parent volunteer utk assist kids kat reading corner. saya tolong mana yg dapat sbb sekolah jauh sangat dari rumah..

intan: yup.. the kids had a great time besides busy counting all kind of sea transport tu.. barge, small boat, power boat, ship, tugboat etc.. mak2 yg pening jgk kena tolong kira.. pastu kena buat bar chart pulak..

Misha said...

ahhh .. you all ada juga tolong reading session ar ?

here .. in my daughter's school also ada... ie reading mum, go to school every tuesday and thursday for an hour each .. so that the kids can read for us ..

actually it is really useful .. budak budak tu improve alot and dengan cepat :)

syiok nye.. I always hope that parents were allowed to follow kids when they go on trip (to snap photos!).

Bestnya! Lain kali volunteer la lagi;)

MULAN said...

misha: not only reading session.. actually for junior & elementary school, parents are encouraged to come & help anytime.. tapi tak de la duduk dalam class tu hari2, pagi till petang.. he he..

d: syok..semua subject/skill pun cikgu minta volunteer, tp takde la selalu. tak boleh commit sangat dgn daily activity in classroom, but field trip or enrichment etc saya cuba join..

MULAN said...

izariza: exactly..!!!

ahni: kat msia sibuk belajar kat kelas je.. sume nak cepat pandai on paper, takde nak kasi budak pikir, kasi stimulate itu otak..

Seronoknya dpt naik boat tengok sungai...tengoklah wajah anak2 tu...nampak happy aje...

Ajzie said...

wah bestnya...esk kat sekolah kindergarten Alya ada rombongan ke kilang roti.. Saya yg nervous plak.. mcm tak percaya anak saya nak ikut rombongan sekolah walaupun 2jam aje..hihihi

Misha said...

oh ok ..

so .. certain parents will definately spent most of their time in school ..

here .. only certain time sahaja . ie reading mum lar .. swimming time lar (since the kids are still young).. field trip sahaja .. others the school tried not to take up the parents' time

azie: apa nak neves.. syok tau. sure alya seronok nanti..

misha: yes yes.. reading & swimming mesti tolong. parents are also welcomed at the library.. anytime, anyday..

lollies & maklang:

he he... nanti orang tak tau saigon port @ river tu besar mana... he he.. ada yg ingat saigon river tu sungai kecik tut je.. bila tengok kapal/cruise ship besar gedegang lalu, haaahh baru tau... port dalam bandar je..

mata pencarian & mode of transport byk kat sungai2 ni lagi.. esp for those yg susah2. nak lalu jambatan, kena bayar tol la pulak. jauh pulak tu..
