RAMADHAN & EID WITH MALAYSIAN CHANNELS..

Fuuhh.. finally we are able to watch Malaysian TV Channels at home.. Thanx to the Indian family (from India) who fought endlessly, for the satellite disc to be installed at our place (mula2 tak tau depa yang aggressively mintak... he he)

We are living in a gated compound, with cable channels tapi tak ada Malaysian Channels. We've been fighting for it ever since we moved here 1 1/2 years back. Yang peliknya other service property in Saigon ni mostly ada Malaysian Channels. Banyak la alasan bila tanya ngapa tak leh kasi , at least satu channel pun cukup laa. They didn't allow us to install the satellite disc because they said it might disrupt the property's cable wave etc bla bla bla... Ya ke tak pun tak tau.. Depa malas kot.. Then we all pun jadi redha je la dengan dugaan ni.. Bukan apa nak kasi budak2 ni familiar dengan bahasa ibunda & boleh tengok suasana di Malaysia plus tengok program2 agama yang memang payah nak dapat di sini.

Tup tap tup tap... there's one time when we came back from the swimming pool.... I could see shiny, huge thing behind some trees at the Indian's family's patio. "Hah.. pebenda tu...", curious, curious... we peeped laaa.. "Uwaakkk.. ada satellite disc, camner depa boley dapat ni... Tak aci..tak aci..". Esok nya, first time in the morning, I went to see the Acting Manager..nak marah la jugak.. Kita mintak punya lama tak dapat2, alih2 depa baru seminggu jagung pindah sini dapat taruk benda tu. Naik jugak darah sket2. Tersengih2 dia kata sekarang dah dibenarkan pasang kuali (2m wide tau) tu. Hiisshh.. awat tak sound awal2.

Hahh.. sape lak nak kena attack ni? Hello..hello..I'm looking for cable guy loooo.. Haaa.. called Charlene (she lives in a bungalow, near town area, installed one at her place..dapat Astro lagi amoi tu) and she called the cable guys for me.. "Xie xie nie Charlene".. "Pu ker chie maaa", dia jawab.. Fyi, these cable guys are from China Town area in Saigon ni, and hence agaknya Vietnamese berbangsa China la tu, can only speak Vietnamese & Chinese.. Lost laaa kita lagu tuu.. Ni hau ma je tau..

Lepas buat appointment, depa datang la dengan bebahan dalam 2-3 beg tu. Just left them to assemble & install everything. We all lepak kat dalam rumah. Called the Front Desk just to inform them that there might be some drillings bla bla bla.. takut kang neighbors lain ni tak aman plak. Then, one of the guys (called him Chubby.. sbb chubby laa) cakap kena potong some branches. Aiiikk, boley ke? Called Front Desk again, to get the gardeners tengok la mana boley potong. Datang la a group of them. Berdiri macam statue dok tengok je. We left them to continue the work. Tapi tak leh siap.. continue la the next day.

Pung pang pung pang... sambung lagi..dok adjust satellite tu, tak dapat2.. bengkak betul disc tu. "Madam... cut cut..", Chubby kata kena potong some branches lagi. Aiikk.. habis la mini jungle belakang rumah ku. "Ok..ok.. but chut chut".. (chut chut means sikti2). The gardeners were around too.. After a while dok dalam rumah, kami peeked la kat belakang rumah tu.... "Haakkkk..."..depa pi cantas one of the 3 palm trees behind my backyard. Huwaaahhhggg.. Amacam jadi lagu ni.. Chubby said there won't be any signal or wave if he didn't cut the palm trees in order to put the satellite disc on the steel staging, so that it can face upright (ada senget sket) to the south (where the signal seems strongest). Eeiikkk... camna ni..diam dulu laaa.. ssshhhhh....

I went to the grocery shop to buy some drinks for them.. kesian lak keje seharian. Lalu pulak depan Front Desk and the supervisor called me.. tau la ni.. "Madam.. you cut down the palm tree. It's very expensive. VND 1 million (equivalent to RM 250)".. haiyaaa.. I said I didn't know they cut it because I did remind them to cut the branches ONLY and not the whole tree... Huwaaaaa... rushed back home and tell ya habibi. Ahhh.. nak tengok punya pasal bayar je la. Ok la tu. Yang geramnya those gardeners were there, they were supposed to instruct the cable guys, not just stand and stare at them cutting the branches & accidentally (ya ka..?) chopped a tree.!!!

Biak pi la. Nak tengok punya hal, redha je la. Bayar je la. Tup tup.. eh eh.. Kak Mai belakang rumah pun nak suruh pasang jugak. Chubby kata tak yah pasang disc..tarik wayar saja.. Happy betul la Kak Mai. We spent almost USD 200 sorang to pay for the receiver, satellite disc, wiring etc...share sume cost, tapi puas hati la. Dapat tengok TV3 & TV1. TV2 ada sound tapi takde gambar. Takpe la kot. Yang paling best bila Zharif tengok TV Malaysia, terus nak cakap bahasa (he can read & understands bahasa but he doesn't want to speak, takut salah kot). Broken bahasa pun ok sangat2 la and till now, he improves a lot, alaahh budak catch up within minutes je. Dah takde mummy daddy lagi... mak & abah plak dah.. Ikut dan la Zharif..

So.. Raya ni memang best la sebab dapat tengok program Raya via satellite tu lerr.. Ada la suasana raya walaupun tak balik esp takbir2 tu nanti. Jangan berserai air mata udah ler.. Almost a decade here, I went back for Raya twice only. Habibi keje, cuti sehari dua tak berbaloi laaa... Kueh Raya tak start buat lagi nih. Tapi tadi balik dari discussion untuk buat Raya Gathering, at Consulate General of Malaysia's house, rasa macam berkobar2 lak nak beraya. InsyaAllah petang ni nak buat Tart Nenas kot. Fuuhh, kena ada kesabaran yang maksima untuk buat tart tu. Bapak & anak nak makan punya hal.. kena la kan.. shape memang selalu out but rasa tu ada laaaa bau2 tart nenas..

SAYA ANAK MALAYSIA

Last week (Friday 13th) the UN Day assembly was held in school campus. This is a fascinating multi-cultural event and one of the year's highlights. All students from various countries have been working hard towards their UN Day performances. And therefore anak2 Malaysia tidak lah ketinggalannya. Ada yang excited gila when it comes to performance etc (esp yang kecik toit2 tu), ada yang suku rela & ada yang terpaksa bila disuruh datang practise. At first we thot of doing Kuda Kepang but when we surfed internet for details, rupa2 nya asal usul salah silah nya dari Indonesia. Tak nak lah, nanti gelak dek Indons kat sini.

So, pikiaq punya pikiaq, we decided on Dikir Puteri by Noraniza Idris. We combined Zapin for bigger boys & girls, whilst the toit2 duduk and buat steps dikir barat. Tak kisah le sama ke tak, janji depa tersengih2 and happy (these group yang paling beria..). Zharif, anak den dalam group toit2 ni, adik dia, Marsha pi playschool lain in town area. So takde lah join lagi. Sekolah ni jauh sikit, about 15km away from our home but it's the 1st International School in Saigon and kiranya dah establish habis la.

Yang kesiannya, ni bulan puasa. We need to persuade them. Depa puasa kan. Yang kecik tu toksah cerita la. Dok togok air depan abang2 & kakak2 yg lain tu. Tak ke haru? Pulak tu, drinks & nibbles were served after the performance. Cookies, chocolates, cup cakes, muffins etc... leleh la ayaq liok depa. Masa practise ok la coz we did it in the afternoon, after school.

Tapi bila on stage on that day, all of the kids looked so confident & jovial, and so proud with our traditional outfit tu. Kami mak bapak pun sampai naik bulu roma when they started to perform. Apa taknya lagu Dikir Puteri tu is full of tempo, tune and vigor. Kami pun rasa macam nak join... kih kih kih..

They received huge applause from the audience. "WE DID IT... MALAYSIA BOLEH". We felt so happy and proud for them. Even Zharif's teacher felt proud as well because he took part in the performance. She even showed me photos of Zharif on the stage & gave me a copy. Huwaaa.. ya habibi tak dapat ambik banyak gambar coz we were sitting at the right side of the stage. Only the teachers & children were allowed to sit right in front of the stage...of course laaa..

We ( plus other countries too) were given 3 minutes (cukup2) untuk perform. Dan jugak "NO MUM ON STAGE!!!" tapi selalunya "some people" ni tak tau language laaa.. Padahal attend meeting tak pernah miss.. memang tak reti2 orang kata.. Kalau depa buat sume nya takpe, ada budak kecik la, lagu tu tak boleh kasi pendek la, itu la, ini la.. Memang tak aci, selalu double standard etc.. Kalu Asians buat sume tak betul !!! Suruh bagi demo cd 3 minit, alih2 atas atas stage lain plak.. Kita pun lagu Dikir Puteri tu kasi berhenti ngejut (yang cun laa) sebab nak kan 3 minit.. ikut jer la undang2 tu..
